94.3 The Island Radio Interview
94.3 The Island, a popular radio station in Long Island, NY that can also be heard on-line,
rewarded a copy of “The Magic Pool” to the 9th caller each day from Monday to Friday during
Phathead’s morning show the week of March 27, 2006.
The promotion started on the same day that Phathead interviewed Michael Warner,
Director of Operations of Air Sea Land Productions, Inc., the production company behind “The
Magic Pool.” Play the accompanying audio clip to hear the interview that explains how “The
Magic Pool” was originally conceived.
Also, keep your radio tuned to KJOY (98.3) for another giveaway of “The Magic
Pool” from Monday to Friday one week in April.
We truly thank them for their support. http://www.liradiogroup.com/
Beneath the Sea 2006
“The Magic Pool” was at Beneath the Sea 2006, the Largest
Consumer Scuba & Dive Travel Show in America at the Meadowlands Exposition Center,
Secaucus, NJ on the weekend of March 25th.
“The Magic Pool” booth received a certificate of excellence for having
one of the more interesting and interactive booths. Mr. Shark, the lead character of
“The Magic Pool,” greeted all comers both young and old and appeared in many, many
complimentary Polaroid photos that visitors were able to take as a keepsake. Mr. Shark
even encountered two famous artists – Wyland and Guy Harvey. We are pretty sure that
Mr. Shark made such a great impression that he will be profiled in the next great piece
of art from each of them. Well, okay, maybe not. Check out the photos below.
The amount of sales for the weekend were more than expected, but the
real joy was receiving even further validation from children when they couldn’t pry
their eyes from the 42” plasma screen playing “The Magic Pool.” As much as their parents
would insist upon moving on to another booth, the children would sneak back for another
peek at the action.
Another sign of positive reinforcement and support came from several
school teachers who bought the DVD so that they could show it to their class and introduce
their students to the underwater world while also entertaining them. They believe “The
Magic Pool” would be an ideal introduction for young kids.
A donation of several DVDs to Ocean Pals, a group whose purpose is to
encourage young people to become aware of and share their concerns for the marine environment
by using art in education in its national poster contest, helped to make their event
a rousing success. We look forward to assisting future events in order to make it special
for children.
